Piscataqua Savings Bank is the proud supporter of over 100 Seacoast area nonprofits. We’re highlighting a few of the nonprofits doing incredible, critical work in our Portsmouth, New Hampshire area community with our Seacoast Spotlight Series. Next up in our spotlight is the Kittery Community Center.

When you think about things to do on the Seacoast, Portsmouth, New Hampshire, probably comes to mind first. But just across the bridge in neighboring Kittery, Maine, you’ll find a community hub with something for nearly everyone. The Kittery Community Center (KCC) brings together fitness, arts, youth programs, social activities, and community events, making it a great resource for individuals and families throughout the Seacoast.

A Community Center for All Ages

The Kittery Community Center’s mission is to support a healthy, vibrant community by offering programs and services for people of all ages and interests. Rather than focusing on just one activity or age group, the center provides a welcoming place for people to learn something new, pursue their interests, and spend time together.

Located at 120 Rogers Road in Kittery, ME, the center is an easy trip from Portsmouth and surrounding Seacoast communities. Its variety of programs means you can find something to enjoy whether you’re visiting on your own, bringing the family, or looking for a way to meet people in your community.

Stay Active and Try Something New

If you’re hoping to build more movement into your routine, KCC offers several ways to stay active. The fitness suite features cardio equipment, weight-training machines, free weights, and other exercise equipment, along with an indoor walking track. Fitness memberships are available for different age groups, including youth, adults, and seniors.

The center also offers athletic activities and classes throughout the year. Depending on the current schedule, you might find opportunities to play basketball, join a pickleball game, participate in a fitness class, or try a new sport.

For families with children, youth programming adds even more options. Activities can include sports, martial arts, creative classes, and opportunities to explore new interests. Programs vary by season, so checking the center’s current schedule is the best way to find something that fits your family’s interests and availability.

Explore Arts, Entertainment, and Local Events

Staying active is only one part of what makes a community vibrant. The Kittery Community Center also provides opportunities to enjoy the arts, experience live entertainment, and gather with others.

One of its standout features is the STAR Theatre, a performance space created from the building’s former school gymnasium. The theater hosts performances and other events, giving local residents a place to experience entertainment close to home.

The center’s Morgan Gallery, classes, and special events offer additional ways to explore creative interests and discover something different. Its calendar also features social gatherings, seasonal activities, talks, and other community programs throughout the year.

A Place to Connect With Your Community

Community centers play an important role in helping neighbors connect, and the KCC offers plenty of opportunities to do just that. Social clubs, community meals, group activities, educational talks, and organized trips give people ways to spend time together beyond their usual routines.

Programs for older adults are another important part of the center’s offerings, providing opportunities for socializing, learning, and staying engaged. For families, activities and events throughout the year can make it easier to find affordable, local ways to spend quality time together.

The center also offers childcare and seasonal camp programs, giving families additional options for keeping kids active and engaged. With offerings that span generations, the KCC helps create connections between people who might otherwise never cross paths.
